In paragraph 12 Staples quotes from Podhoretzs "My Negro Problem- And Ours", you can tell that he took a direct quote from this because he put part of it in quotes, "special brand of paranoid touchiness". This quote is introduced by Staples by starting off the paragraph citing where he about to pull his quote from. He uses this quote to describe his own feelings and draws a connection between himself and this other authors writing. As for changing this passage i probably would not. Everything seems to be quoted correctly and it has a nice flow, you can easily tell what is Staples idea vs, who he is quoting and it leads him into his next couple of paragraphs nicely.
